HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Artists throughout the state are encouraged to apply for an opportunity to showcase their work in Art of the State: Pennsylvania 2010, a juried art exhibition that is open to state residents and will run from June 27 to Sept. 12 at The State Museum in Harrisburg.
"The 43rd annual Art of the State exhibit will provide a showcase for artists across the state and allow visitors of The State Museum to view the work of many talented artists," said Barbara Franco, executive director of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. "This is a wonderful opportunity for the established or emerging artist to exhibit their work and receive statewide recognition."
Artists can compete in five categories: painting, works on paper, photography, sculpture and craft. For the first time, submissions will be done by digital images.

The application deadline is February 28.
Among the awards are the $250 Rose Roy Memorial Award Honoring Volunteerism and the $250 William D. Davis Memorial Award for Drawing. The State Museum offers a $2,000 Purchase Prize.
